Breathe

Take a moment and breathe.

I have to remind myself to stop and breathe. I’m not speaking of the automatic breathing that my body does to keep me alive. I’m not talking about breathing to exchange oxygen with carbon dioxide. I am talking about a specific kind of breathing.

Breathe.

Stop and think about what it means to breathe. Focus on the air entering the body through the nose, filling the lungs and hanging out for a bit. Focus on the air changing in the lungs, releasing and collecting, changing directions and leaving the body. With every breath, focus on what the body needs to release the stresses of the day and revive with new energy.

Breathe.

Stop for a moment and breathe, consciously and allow the tensions to flow away.
